I didn't realize how busy I was going to be this school year.

Frankly, I have no idea why, either. I have 2 jobs, a student magazine to be the editor of and take 2 languages at the same time (Advanced Greek and Introductory Biblical Hebrew). Throw in girlfriend time and keeping relationships up with everyone else can be quite taxing.

SO that's why I haven't been writing. That, and everytime I had both time and motivation to write something, the wireless was down. Boo hiss.

So the fierce exposition is going to have to go on hold until something really interesting happens.

Summer Hiatus = OVER

Yep.

I totally left without saying goodbye.

Forgive and forget? ok, super. I love you too.

So I've just had quite a busy summer. I've been working as a research assistant at the ol' University College whilst living with many wonderful guys at the Lodge. I've been jumping between London, Toronto and Grimsby (all in Ontario) almost every weekend since late June and now traveling is just starting to slow down. All in all, super dee duper.

And I'm doin' it. I'm going to start to write at least every other day. I find writing helps get things out and while I don't seem to have the troubling emotions and confused meanderings that I feel have permeated my posts since their inception, I'm pretty sure I'll be able exposit something fierce on multiple topics. Just you wait and see.

I've been thinking a lot about scriptual truth lately.

As in, what if the generally accepted hermeneutic that is taught to the evangelical masses is just incorrect?

What if our preconceptions and presumptions of the scriptures completely influence how we read them?

How do we escape that?

You scored as Emergent/Postmodern, You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

– Interesting. I thought I would re-do this test after a year of religious study at Tyndale. Apparently I left Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan behind and I've become Emergent/Postmodern (I really can't tell you how much I hate that ill-used term. Emergent is a group, not a movement. Emerging is the word they're looking for).

First thoughts:
  • I disagree with point 1 there: I feel much more alienated from the modern church, than I do from the elder. It's far too much an entertainment thing–a non-interactive concert every week. Boo.
  • I agree with everything else in that list, though. Those are certainly values that I both recommend to others as well as values that I try to practice in my own life.
Answer the questions. Find out where you stand. Let's start a dialogue.
